I'm not much of a museum fan usually but I enjoyed my visit here. We came on a Sunday morning so we we able to enter free of charge. It's possible that we were the first ones through the door so got to enjoy much of our visit without other people around - no noisy kids is always good. There was a decent variety of exhibits, some of which allowed you to interact with them. All very interesting. Lots of toilets on site. Ticket included entry to neighbouring botanical gardens.

The museum has lots of different parts. Modern and old. I spent two hours in the museum, good interactive parts of you are going with children. I particularly liked the big room which was a voyage through the landscapes of Portugal. Very cool. Like others have said the temporary exhibits should not just be in Portuguese, this limits the audience. Knocking a star off for this only. Oh and there is no cafe! So make sure you get something before you go in 👍

I liked this museum. It was a spontaneous visit with a nice surprise: the entrance for museum and garden is free on Sunday. You can easily spent a few hours checking different exhibitions. The only thing that most of them are in Portuguese only( the text is not duplicated in English). Especially I loved the ongoing exhibition with illustrations, sketches and photos from different expeditions.
