Reviews
What a fantastic spot. The atmosphere was perfect; with old hunting trophies on the walls, Steins on display and tons of pictures adorning the walls. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the braised Ox-Cheeks. One of the best meals I've had in a long time, hands down!! The meat was delicious and tender, the dumplings were the perfect consistency and texture (not over cooked or gummy). The cabbage was really delightful as well. All in all, I have zero bad things to say; food was great, beer was cold, wine was nice, and the prices are reasonable for such a delicious meal. Staff were nice as well. I came in quite late for food (by German standards) and they were still very accommodating. Even though the staff spoke english, I've been trying to practice my German and the lady was very patient with me. For sure this is a GO-TO while in Heidelberg!
From the first moment I walked into the place, the waitresses saw me like I was different ( 'cause I am mestiza ? ) Next my partner ( he was white american ) said, " we want to eat ", fortunately he saw what I saw, and felt what I felt. Two people having issues ? I dont think so ( to the owner ) The food was good. The place is a traditional German restaurant.
Noisy and popular. Grumpy old man server. Ladies room not stocked with paper all evening. No drink menu offered. Beef consume and apple strudel were delightful.
