Looking for an afternoon tea venue, I discovered that 'Le Teatime' is the traditional French option: hot chocolate and a selection of cakes and pastries. We visited to celebrate my niece's 18th birthday. Faded grandeur and friendly service while the cakes are just spectacular. €31 per person. It's just lovely.

-1 ⭐️ for 🚬 on the terrace. The oldest restaurant in Paris needs more life. A sad slip from Michelin to mediocre for their main dishes. Although the tangy sauce was a refreshing zing on the palette, the leeks themselves had all of the flavor bleached out of them. After the second leek all interest had been lost. A fear of flavor persisted over the entire dish. The pollock was more of the same. The chef as taken “light and subtle” over the edge into nothingness. There was just no flavor in anything, although the texture of the fish was excellent. The cheese platter was very good, and saved the meal. The camembert in particular. Although the bread did not help the cheese and rather got in the way. While I didn’t eat a dessert, they looked fabulous. It seems all of the credit for this restaurant needs to go to the pastry chef. The setting is clearly impressive. We sat at the same seat as Napoleon and Josephine, with a wonderful view across history - the artwork and mirrors give a wonderful sense of elegance, space and light. If only the chef could be as daring with his flavors as Napoleon was with his conquests!
